Reading Response on Articles

In the 2 articles about cyber bullying, I learned that cyber bullying can be more worse than regular bullying. Cyber bullying is there wherever you are connected to technology, and that is everywhere. regular bullies beat you up then leave, but cyber bullies are always there. Most issues of bullying can stop or can be solved, and aren't as dangerous as cyber bullying. Most cyber bullies are females, because males would rather play video games than bully someone. Cyber bullying has lead a lot of teenagers to commit suicide. Cyber bullies can also be hackers and that is a dangerous mix. All your accounts and personal information can be in their hands and you might find out that you're broke.
The articles I read made me think cyber bullying is a large issue, and is different from regular bullying. Regular bullies are usually male, but cyber bullies are usually female. Also, with the internet, you won't know who the cyber bully is. It can be anyone, even from your family. Question that I have from reading this article is that why would anyone waste their time to bully someone online? Someone could just think that your mail was nonsense or spam and throw it in the garbage and pretend nothing happened. When you are on the web, take other people's opinion with a grain of salt.

Unfair Situations

Unfair Situations
There are a lot of unfair situations in this world. The SHSAT is a test that is very important in the selection of you high school. It is unfair, because people might have a bad day on the day of the test, or arn't at their best when they take the test. That goes for any test, and whenever you are not at your best, you fail. I feel likfe people need more chances, just because you were not at your best doesn't mean you should fail. There has to be ways to make up for tests and ways to help failing students. Also, I saw that some schools generally pick kids in their areas (Manhattan, Queens, etc.) than other areas, thus making it hard for smart kids in other areas to get in. That is not fair, because it ruins the chance of  other students from other areas to get in and isn't fair. Also, people in good high schools like Stuy have loads of homework. There should be less homework, because without any fun and only homework, people will start being depressed. The ones that manage to graduate without being depressed are only people that can last longer. Also Stuy has a large suicide rate, and it is sad that smart people are dying because of too much work and no end in sight. I experienced that before and I was depressed, although I knew it was going to be only for 2 months, but in Stuy that is 4 years. People think of people that attempt suicide "pussies"- quote from an anonymous student. The thing is they are not "pussies". I think they were just depressed and were not afraid of death, and wanted to be free. I know people who were not afraid of death, they were brave and smart and had no regrets. It is sad that people die from problems that can be solved if only people listen. I feel like the world isn't listening.

2 voice poem

I AM ADOPTED
my dad abused me when I was little
My mom treated me as a slave
NOW I LIVE WITH ANOTHER FAMILY
there is always silence
I am the different one in the family
I WANT TO BE ACCEPTED
I want to be the same
I want to be family
FAMILY

Injustices

In this world there are a lot of injustices. In these 5 days, a toddler was murdered by her own father! Cops were fixing tickets for their friends and families. In the news, a lot of people were killed each day. Places were robbed like a Deli in New York. People were being killed in Afghanistan and other places. People were living in poverty, and were starving to death each day.
When I think bout it, I think that everyday people die, but the world keeps on going. Families are affected, and other stuff happens, but the Earth keeps on moving. There were  lots of differences between the newspaper and the news. The news show more deaths and crimes, while the news show about one crime and then goes on to the celebrities. To the newspaper, deaths were just a common thing and happened a lot, and I think that is why they put other stuff than death in the papers. The world keeps on moving.

Ender's Game Reading Response

In Ender's game by Orson Scott Card, Ender finished Battleschool, and got into command school. He was pitted in unfair matches in battleschool. For example, having to go against 2 armies at once, being cornered, and sent out with no warning. In command school it was the same thing. He had to go against impossible odds, such as the enemy's technology being more advance then his, being outnumbered, and being surronded.
This is connected to a real battlefield. You don't always have the advantage and you have to make up what you don't have. Even though it is impossible, he still tried and he always won at the end. This is connected to the real world, because even though something is really hard, people try. People knew that the SHSAT was hard, but they still tried. The feelings and thoughts in the book was as close to a real person's thought.

Ender's Game

In Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card, Ender is a little kid at age 6. He lives in a world that is ready for war with the aliens they call "Buggers". There were people in the government watching Ender and analyzing him. They were looking for the next commander to lead their army against the buggers. It had to be a kid, because unlike older people, kids were able to absorb losses but older people were too cautious. He was accepted, and at age 6 he was sent to Battle School to serve the army. Battle School is for all the childern that were deemed appropriate to fight against the buggers. In Battle School he is picked on by a lot of kids, but he manages to stop them and get on with his life. For example, he was being picked on by a kid in the space shuttle and he threw the kid upside down and broke his arm. Ender is a lot smarter than the other kids in the school, he could hack into computers and think of strategies that no one ever thought of before. The way ender can predict his opponent's movement is by "being" the enemy. When he does that, he "loves" the opponent before he "crushes them into dust".
I can relate to Ender because I've been picked on in my life more than most other people, but I always manage to get them to shut up, or they'll get bored of it . I don't care what people think of me, and like Ender I don't hang out with people in my free time.I will instead play games on computer or read a nice book. This is also related to aliens because our view of aliens are green creatures with large eyes, advanced weapons and small mouths.

2 Best Blogs

The two blogs that I think are the best were Layla's and Carmen's. Layla focused on one topic and went with it throughout her post. Carmen's looked like it was very well written. I think that they both spent a lot of time and effort on it.
Layla's entire blog was unique and like I said she focused on one topic. When you look at her blog it doesn't look repitive. I also liked her book.
Carmen's blog was written well. There were no run on sentences or any mistakes. I liked how she talked about her book and how the sentences were organized.
I couldn't find my other group member's blog, so these two were the one that I saw.

Sunrise over Fallujah

In my book Sunrise over Fallujah by Walter Dean Myers, Robin Perry nicknamed "Birdy" was enlisted in the war with Iraq. He was with the Civilian Affairs Battalion and was suspose to interact with the Iraqi people. The name for their operation/mission is Iraqi Freedom, but bombs and enemy guerillas frequently attack them.

There is a lot of connections with the real world. The war was real, but the character was not. All the facts were true and what happened in the book was what happened in the real war. For example people who tried to run away from the U.S troops were fired upon. An example of this in the book was how a child was shot down just because he was scared and was running away.

Another connection is the equipment. M16 and AK-47s were used and also the humvees and tanks. This book has some real life events in it like friendly fires and bombings.

This book has a lot of facts in it and makes you see the war in the perspective of a soldier. I liked Walter Dean Myer's books they were realistic and show you more about war than what they show on the news.
